Reverend Mickey Quinton

My name is Mickey Quinton and it is my distinct honor and privilege to join the ministry staff of Unity Church of Practical Christianity in the capacity of Minister.
I was born and raised in Dyersburg, Tennessee. After graduating from Dyer County High School in 1979, I attended Rhema Bible Training College in Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose founder was influenced by New Thought, though it was an Evangelical school. After graduating from there I earned my B.A. from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in 1997.
I pastored various churches in my home town until I accepted a call to Life In Christ Church in Marion, Kentucky. I served there for ten years. After leaving Kentucky, I began to question the doctrines of Evangelicalism, especially the doctrines of sin and hell. I was greatly influenced in this regard by Bishop Carlton Pearson, also from Tulsa. I initially sought ministry in the Unitarian Universalist Association, but they place little emphasis on Jesus or the scriptures. I was delighted to find both emphasized in a wonderful way in Unity.
I resigned my pastorate in Kentucky in 2004 and took a position in Southaven as an associate minister from 2005-2006. I had to seek secular employment as the church became unable to support an additional staff member.
I have been in the Memphis area since I accepted the associate minister position in Southaven. I was a member in good standing of First Unitarian Church in Memphis. I was also approved for the first level of credentialing with the Unitarian Universalist Association.
I am currently pursuing studies towards licensure and ordination through the Unity Urban Ministerial School.
I count myself blessed to have discovered Unity. I believe that Unity should no longer be "the best kept secret" in the faith community but should burst forth with its glorious message as never before. Together we will make that happen!
If you would like to reach me by phone, I am available via call or text at 901-521-6166.
