Every fall we support the children and families of Willow Oaks Elementary School through school supplies we collect and provide to the school to distribute. Under the current circumstances, we are not able to engage in the more direct collection of items for donation that we are accustomed to; however, we want to continue this connection with the children of Willow Oaks by supporting their needs for supplies. Towards that end, we have created an Amazon Wish List for the school. Items purchased for Willow Oaks will be shipped to the church office and our staff will deliver to the school (shipping directly to schools is delayed often by several weeks). We would like to have a large number of items collected for delivery by Tuesday, September 8th. If you prefer to donate funds for our staff to do the online shopping, please send checks payable to UCPC with the organization name on the memo. Donations can also be made via PayPal or Vanco Services (there is a designated donation option with Vanco). If you choose PayPal, please add a note to your donation indicating the designation of your donation. Click the Amazon icon below to access their wish list.

As many of you know, every year we take part in a very special community service project we call "Operation Christmas Bears". Beginning in November we collect stuffed animals, bring them into the sanctuary, infuse them with our love, and then the Sunday before Christmas deliver them to Purdue Center of Hope to give to the children (and mothers) staying there due to the impact of domestic violence in their lives. For obvious reasons, we aren't going to be able to do that this year. Our own Susan "Sweet Sue" Rivers came up with an idea to fill this void! She reached out to the director of Purdue Center and received a list of most needed items which we have used to create an Amazon Wish List where anyone can purchase items to be shipped direct to Purdue Center. We will leave this Wish List open permanently so that whenever you are able to send something, it will be available. To access the list, click the Amazon Wish List button below. If you prefer to make a donation towards this effort, please visit our Online Giving page to make an electronic donation via Vanco Services or PayPal. If giving by PayPal, please include a note indicating the purpose of your donation. NOTE: We're extending the deadline for bringing donated items to Friday, February 7th.
On Saturday the 8th at 9am we'll be gathering to pack the backpacks and will head downtown to distribute them afterwards. In order to assure each project has sufficient volunteers, MIFA has requested that everyone register online. Please click HERE to register. Thank you.
Once again, it is our pleasure and honor to support the students and staff of Willow Oaks Elementary School by holding our annual School Supplies drive. This year we are focusing our drive on the top six most frequently needed items (listed above).
There are three ways to contribute to this effort: Option 1: Shopping Trip! Select an item(s) from the bus windows, go shopping, and return them to UCPC by Sunday, August 26th. NOTE: Per the school's request, backpacks need to be as generic as possible (no characters or logos), and the #2 pencils need to be Ticonderoga brand. Option 2: Cyber Shopping! Purchase item(s) from our Amazon Wish List. These items will be shipped to the church. Option 3: Donate funds for items to be purchased by the church on August 27th. Place donations (cash, or check payable to Unity Church) in the Pack The Bus Donations box on the Information Table at the back of the sanctuary, or make your donation via credit/debit in the Gift Shop. We look forward to filling Principal Angela Nichols' car to overflowing when she joins us the first Sunday of September! During April we are supporting Ronald McDonald House Memphis in their mission of "Keeping Families Together" by providing a free-of-charge home away from home for families of children receiving treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In addition to collecting items for their pantry (list provided in our Sunday bulletins), we are once again acting as fiscal sponsors of the John "Bad Dog" McCormack Memorial 5K. We encourage you to support this event by registering to walk (or run), volunteer, or planning to come out on race day to support the participants. If you want to participate in the race race, CLICK HERE. If you are interested in volunteering, please REGISTER HERE. If you prefer to register by completing a paper registration form and paying via cash or check, forms are available on the Information Table in the sanctuary. If you have any questions, please contact Race Director Julianne Tutko at the church office or by email at [email protected]. Your participation and support are greatly appreciated! We are collecting the following items through Sunday, March 25th when we will present them to a representative of Alpha Omega.
During the month of February we are collecting supplies for Grace House of Memphis,
a non-profit alcohol, drug, and co-occurring treatment program for women. No woman is ever turned away based on the inability to pay for treatment. Join us in supporting this vitally important ministry in our community. Please bring items and place them on the rack outside the Gift Shop.
