![]() We have arranged to have UCPC listed as a drop-off location for Bring It Food Hub's weekly subscription deliveries. In order for this to happen they require a minimum of five subscriptions delivered to a pick-up location. We have until Tuesday, May 5th to meet this requirement. This is a special and unique opportunity for our church to get involved in the greater community while providing our members with convenient access to fresh, locally grown produce. Visit their website, select the subscription that best suits your shopping and eating habits, and get registered so that we can get on their schedule as a pick-up spot. And please share this with your family, friends, and neighbors! If you have any questions about subscriptions or require assistance getting signed up, please contact Bring It Food Hub at 901-444-3055 or email them at localfood@bringitfoodhub.com From their website: Founded in 2013, Bring It Food Hub is a non-profit local foods distributor in Memphis, Tennessee. Our Mission is to promote community development in Memphis and the Mid-South by increasing access to healthy, affordable local foods and strengthening farmer livelihoods. We work closely with regional farmers who follow sustainable production practices that conserve natural resources and biodiversity. We sell local fruits, vegetables, eggs and value-added products to individuals, congregations, restaurants and institutions in Memphis. We offer a variety of ways to get involved with eating local in Memphis: Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): Our multi-farm produce subscription–a weekly share of local foods from small and medium sized Mid-South farms. Our 2015 Summer Season will run for 21 weeks from May 11 through September 21. Pay It Forward: For every $20 (tax-deductible) donation, we will be able to place a bag of fresh produce with a family in need through one of our community partners. Our Events Team is constantly working to bring events - concerts, speakers, seminars - to Unity that will enhance our spiritual growth and experience. Make sure to check out their Special Events Page to keep up with all they are bringing our way!
The next event is the May 3rd Amy Steinberg Concert! Mark your calendar and plan to join us as Amy brings her vibrant musical message to our Sunday Service and blesses us with a concert at 12:30pm. Thanks to our Events Team for all you do! On April 11, 2015, Rev. Lawrence Palmer advised our congregation that he is tendering his resignation (see attached letter). It is with mixed emotions and gratitude for what we have been able to accomplish during his brief tenure that we extend our good wishes to him as he follows his heart.
The members of our church and the Trustees recognize the miraculous blending of people that has taken place in our church since the merger in late 2012. When we say a miraculous blending, we mean that there has been Divine Order at work, bringing together the incredible people who are now a part of this new church body called Unity Church of Practical Christianity. As we work our way through our spiritual journey as a church, we are committed to taking full advantage of the opportunities God has provided for us to grow. We will be clarifying what we want for our church body and our spiritual community. The hard work of change is at the core of the Unity philosophy. The change that is taking place at this point in time is in perfect resonance with what this church needs and with the change in consciousness that has been taking place here. We have come to learn that whatever the church experience, it starts with each one of us, and this is our intention for moving forward on our journey from here.Know that we are committed to serving our spiritual community, and your support is gratefully appreciated. Sincerely, The Board of Trustees To view Resignation Letter, click HERE. ![]() Just LOVE this image! We used it last month to demonstrate the real purpose of Ladies' Night Out -- developing friendships and the trust that goes along with it. No matter how much work it takes, in the end, it's worth it! This month's gathering is Thursday, April 16th, at Panera Bread at Trinity Commons (Germantown Parkway and Trinity Road). All the qualities that make up the Perfect Friend are the very same qualities that will keep all of us focused on positive change that will help us grow. SEE YOU THERE! Happy Birthday, Brenda Tomlinson! ![]() Whatever The Church Experience, It Starts With You! A church is a living organism. It is formed by the collective consciousness that emerges from the coming together of those who participate in it. The consciousness of a church can experience the challenge of letting go of an old ministry and resurrecting or emerging into a new ministry. The church can experience the challenge of risking the status quo in terms of size or the way things are done so that it can enter a new phase in its growth. The status quo will always try to maintain itself, to resist change. If you need a grounding in the process of transition that is taking place in our church, this CD will help you understand what is taking place and how you can be a meaningful part of this growth process.
